This is most likely in the wrong section, but I figured anyone browsing this area would probably know the answer to my question lol.

I have always loved these animals, and was just wondering if there were any local breeders? or anywhere around here that ever has these awesome creatures for sale (aside from the odd one that strays into pets unlimited). My girlfriend really likes the vieled chameleons  but I like them all really lol.

I just wanted to have an idea if I decided to get one in the future. Cheesy

From what I know, no there are no breeders here currently. My boyfriend will likely be breeding ambilobe blue bars
panther chameleons next year, but they do have 8 months incubation time on top of that, then growing time, and first time breeders, egg loss etc...  So no guarantees lol.  We might also be breeding meller chameleons, if one proves to be male, so thats a 50% chance.

If your looking to get one shipped in, I can direct you to some great out of province breeders Smiley

Yeah I kind of accidentally showed my girlfriend them and now she is in love aha. I wish you all the best in breeding them! hopefully we can get a local breeder sometime in the future!

As for shipping them in, It would be awesome if you could point me in the right direction, I have no idea about costs,or where to get them so anything is good help. I would obviously do some MAJOR homework before I put anything in stone, but it is deff something I am highly interested in getting.

Lol, chams are great! If they are the sort of animal you like.  Out of my collection, they are the hardest to keep happy but the most interesting. They are on a totally different level, when you have a animal that looks back at you and can recognize you or certain things you carry it sets them apart. They have very strong personalities, and they arnt a pet you can handle. No chameleon wants to be held, all they see you as is a source of food, and a climbing post to more interesting areas.  Some chams don't even like to be looked at, heh.  My big female has never bitten me, and is good with people, but she will puff out and hiss at me when I move her and she doesn't feel like going. Our other one only likes certain people, and has tried to bite people who overstepped themselves. You have to be able to give them a varied diet, but they are very rewarding to watch. Again, they have strong personalities, so are pretty neat to observe you just got to let them have their space. The way you can learn what they want from subtle body movements is fantastic.

Prices are varied. Most common pet chameleons available in canada are Veilds which run about 60$ and Panthers which run 300$+. There are many many difference species, from pygmy to carpet, to the the various species of horned chams. Message me if when you'd like to know about the breeders Smiley

very nice post^

You are right, out of most of my animals the cham is the more interesting to watch as he will do all these fancy patrols around his enclosure and flare up at a moments notice going from brown to blue
Yes they are picky and I have had my troubles with mine from my own stupidity
but yet they seem incredibly resiliant
I would recommend a panther over a veiled
people say veileds are good begineers, but that is mainly true for the fact that they are cheap and readily available
panthers on the other hand are usually captive bred and those who breed them usually take great pride in doing so, which in return gives you a very hardy beuitiful animal
here is likely canada's biggest breeder and I have never heard anything bad from them and I just hope that sometime soon I can get one from them

Wow, love the new breeders you have going! I'd imagine the last few of Hollywood will be snapped up pretty quick, been a long time admiring him. I believe my boyfriend contacted you about getting a pair later in the summer. Nice to see some translucent veilds too, such an interesting morph!
