hehe It does indeed good Sir it does indeed..
My beasty still has his moments where he doesnt wanna be touched and ive had him for more than 2 years.. He's especially distrusting of strangers and will often greet them with his head down, back up and a rather intimidating hissing sound. Wink

he looks good, but is that newspaper you have him on?
savs usually won't soak and have been known to drown easily
if he is soaking  by himself he is likely trying to get proper humidity, get him a good foot or more of plain dort, you could probly dig it up since the weathers so nice and it will dry out in the first few inches and stay nice and humid down further

these guys love to dig and monitors either burrow or climb trees, I have seen articles on the complexity of these burrows and how they often raid ther animal burrows

good luck with him and he is such a nice looking animal the colors are stunning

he is shedding right now . i have a larger tub of soil in there that he digs in for now and helps keep the humidity around 60 percent . i still  need to get another sheet of shower board to do the lower part with before i add 2 feet of soil .

Awww...he is beautiful and so tiny.  I deeply miss having a Sav.

Iatshki is correct on both counts regarding soaking and especially with regard to substrate.  I have a couple of articles I can pass along to you if you're interested, as well as the varanid diet that I have successfully used on my Savs.  Feel free to message me anytime if I can be of help.
